Ian Bishop is a writer and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York. Growing up in Denver, the urban environment naturally combined with a lust for nature created inspiration for his early work. As a child, Ian constantly fiddled with camera and computer equipment alike, but film as a career or educational opportunity seemed like a far off concept until the transition to Western State Colorado University in 2012.

Ian arrived at Western an eager English student, focusing completely on creative writing and poetry. As his writings evolved and transformed Ian began to become increasingly interested in a more visual conceptualization of art as he started to collaborate with other students at Western. From flash fiction, to poetry, to creative non-fiction and everything in between, Ian’s writings cover a broad spectrum of the human psyche.

In 2013, Ian made the choice to change to the Film emphasis in the Communication Arts program as an attempt to make a creative connection between his two passions. Since this decision, Ian has created several short narrative and documentary productions that have been featured in local film festivals as well as countless narrative and creative pieces of fiction and non-fiction writing alike. Recently graduated from Western State, Ian worked for a local television station in Crested Butte, Colorado and has now made the transition to Brooklyn.

Currently looking to branch into commercial film work, Ian has focused on his writing and photography since graduating University.
